Spring gardening season is coming! Save the date for our very first garden workshop on Friday, April 17th at 11am with The Garden Hotline! In this workshop, you'll learn how to prep your garden for spring, support healthy soil, and prepare your plants for seed saving later in the year.⁠⁠

Book and Resource Fair

Calling all book lovers! Mark your calendars for our annual Book Fair on Saturday, April 25th from 10am - 1pm at Rainier Valley Food Bank. We'll have free books, sight-word bingo, bookmark making, coloring pages, and shelf-stable groceries, plus a variety of community partners offering additional services and resources. 

Did You Know? | Women's History Month

March is Women’s History Month! This year we’re highlighting a few women whose leadership and advocacy has shaped food access and education across the country.

• Shirley Chisholm – The first Black woman elected to Congress in 1968, Chisholm fought to expand food assistance programs nationwide and played an important role in the creation of the Women, Children, and Infant (WIC) program.

• Alice Waters – The Farm-to-Table Movement pioneer and founder of the Edible Schoolyard Project, Waters helped transform how people think about fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced food through garden and kitchen education.

• Marian Wright Edelman – A lifelong advocate for children and families, Edelman founded the Washington Research Project and has worked for decades to address child hunger and poverty in America.

Their leadership continues to shape how we work toward stronger, more equitable food systems today.
