Calling all volunteers! Whether you've joined us within the past month, are a longtime volunteer, or just curious about getting involved, join us on February 9th from 5–7pm for our Winter Volunteer Meet & Greet. We’ll tour our new Community Food Hub, connect with our Volunteer Coordinator, Attiyya, and share a delicious catered meal. Inclusive meal options will be available.
Join us on Saturday, February 7th, from 6:30–8:30pm for Celebrating Food & Community: A Benefit for Rainier Valley Food Bank, hosted by Hugo House, Seattle’s nonprofit literary arts center. The evening will feature poetry readings, performances by the Bushwick Book Club band, and remarks from our Executive Director, Gloria. This is a free, ticketed fundraiser, and proceeds will support our Room For All Capital Campaign, helping ensure neighbors continue to access nourishing food and community care.
Our Community Garden Club has exciting plans for 2026! Located behind our building, the garden is a shared space for everyone to enjoy, explore, and grow together.
This year, we’re looking forward to starting our garden club through hands-on gardening workshops, volunteer opportunities, and community events. We’d love your input to help decide what comes next.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our food bank will be closed on Monday, January 19th. Dr. King’s work toward justice and equality continues to inspire efforts to build stronger, more caring communities. We encourage our neighbors to take time today to learn and reflect on his legacy. We will resume services on Tuesday, January 20th.
Did You Know?
Hunger Action Day is happening next month on Tuesday, February 10th. During each legislative session, the Anti-Hunger & Nutrition Coalition hosts Hunger Action Day in Olympia, bringing together food banks, advocates, and community members to speak up for hungry families across Washington. This year, members of our staff and supporters will visit the State Capitol to meet with legislators and advocate for policies and budget investments that reduce food insecurity statewide.
Ending hunger and poverty takes all of us. If you're interested in getting involved, one step is contacting your legislators by phone or email to share your support for anti-hunger and anti-poverty policies. You can visit the Washington State Legislature website to find your district and make your voice heard on behalf of our neighbors.
