Did You Know?
1 in 10 people in Washington are food insecure, while in southeast King County,
1 in 4 people are food insecure. Our neighborhoods have the highest poverty rates and the greatest percentage of low-income residents in Seattle. As a result, our community faces greater challenges securing housing, employment, education, and economic security, often leading to food insecurity. Food justice is essential in our vision to end hunger in South Seattle. Our neighbors deserve the opportunity to nourish and empower themselves by accessing foods and additional resources that meet their needs.
How will you contribute to ending hunger in our community? By volunteering, hosting a food, fund, and item drive, donating funds, or raising awareness of how our neighbors are impacted by hunger, we can move closer to achieving food security for more people in our city.
